Orbital Travel introduces Overland Tours in Egypt
(PRWEB UK) 30 September 2014 -- Orbital Travel, the 5* Nile Cruise specialists, have introduced new land based tours in Egypt visiting both the most iconic tombs, temples and monuments of Ancient Egypt as well as its lesser known sites.
Orbital Travel is offering three example itineraries based in Cairo, Luxor and Aswan. Some of the lesser known sites are easily reached from Luxor including the Tombs of the Nobles on the West Bank, where hundreds of tombs are embedded in the rock, often richly decorated with frescoes depicting the working lives of the inhabitants, and the Temple of Medinet Habu, the Mortuary Temple of Ramses III, best known as the source of inscribed reliefs depicting the defeat of the Sea Peoples during the reign of Ramses III.
The temple complexes at Abydos (Temple of Seti I and the Osireion) and Dendera can be visited as a day trip from Luxor. The Temple of Seti I has an unusual L-shaped layout with seven sanctuaries, approached through two broad hypostyle halls. Some of the reliefs decorating the walls of the temple are beautifully carved. The Ptolemaic Temple of Dendera is one of the best preserved temples in Egypt with vividly coloured scenes and reliefs especially on the roof chapel dedicated to Osiris, which contains a sundial and circular zodiac.
John McCallum, Orbital Travel’s Managing Director, commented: “These bespoke tours based in hotels offer great flexibility and value for money. Not only can you see the some of the ‘greats’ of Ancient Egypt but you are also able to visit the sites which are less well known and which offer the most stunning art, reliefs and architecture. Some of these sites can also be included as an extension to a Nile Cruise.”
A seven night Luxor and Aswan itinerary leads in at £879 per person including flights from London Heathrow, hotel accommodation (4 nights B&B at the 5* Sonesta St George in Luxor and 3 nights B&B at the 5* Movenpick Aswan), transfers and excursions to the West Bank of Luxor (Valley of the Kings, Tombs of the Nobles), East Bank of Luxor (Karnak Temple, Luxor Temple, Museum of Luxor) and Aswan (felucca cruise, Abu Simbel, Philae Temple, High Dam), escorted by a qualified Egyptologist.
