Global Laser Technology Leader Selects Jeffrey Martin, MD To Address Colleagues During International Symposium In Chicago 2014
Smithtown, New York (PRWEB) September 30, 2014 -- A highlight for this year’s Speaker Forum hosted by Abbott Medical Optics (AMO) at the American Academy of Ophthalmology meeting in Chicago will include a lecture by Long Island LASIK surgeon Jeffrey Martin, MD on the latest advances in LASIK laser vision correction. Dr. Martin is the Managing Partner of North Shore Eye Care and is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology at SUNY Stony Brook.
This year’s 118th Annual American Academy of Ophthalmology meeting is being held October 17 – 21 and will host more than 10,000 eye surgeons from around the world. It is the largest ophthalmology meeting of its kind and will feature guest lecturers from more than 20 countries.
“I consider AMO to be a global leader in both lens implant technology and laser technology,” said Dr. Martin, “and I am extremely pleased that they have once again chosen me to speak to my international colleagues on their behalf.” Dr. Martin’s lecture is scheduled for Saturday, October 17tht at 11 a.m. He and other members of a specially selected panel will discuss how AMO’s advanced laser technology is helping provide ophthalmology practices a technologically competitive advantage in performing LASIK laser vision correction. Dr. Martin will also share his management insight in how he and his colleagues at North Shore Eye Care have built one of the premiere LASIK practices in New York.
Joining Dr. Martin on the AMO panel of experts is Austin-based eye surgeon, Steven Dell, MD, the brother of Dell Computers founder, Michael Dell. Pioneering eye surgeon Steven Schalhorn, MD will serve as the moderator for the panel of speakers. Dr. Schalhorn is a former member of the United States Navy ophthalmology team who was instrumental in gaining approval for LASIK to be performed on members of the U.S. military.
