Davis Hospital and Medical Center is First Northern Utah Hospital to Offer 3D Mammography for Breast Cancer Screening
Layton, Utah (PRWEB) September 29, 2014 -- Davis Hospital and Medical Center is the first hospital in northern Utah to offer 3D mammography.
This new technology allows radiologists to view the whole breast in high resolution, improving cancer detection rates. With 3D mammography, images of the breast are acquired at different angles and a 3D image is created. This can significantly reduce the possibility of being called back for additional imaging following a screening mammogram.
“Including 3D mammography into our cancer screening options was an important step we knew we needed to take for our patients and the community,” said Cindy Stewart of Davis Hospital and Medical Center’s Breast Care Center. “Our healthcare providers will now have more advanced screening technology for improved cancer detection rates. Women who have a family history of breast cancer, have prior breast cancer risks, or have dense breast tissue may benefit the most from this type of screening. Above all, we can offer our patients the advantages of 3D mammography at no additional cost.”
