Career Directors International Announces New Categories for Their Certified Resume Specialist Niche Resume Writing Credential

Career Directors International (CDI) first created the Certified Resume Specialist credential to allow professional resume writers to showcase their talents and expertise in a niche industry or profession. While the variety of specialties has grown, this month CDI has added two new categories for the credential.

Certified Resume Specialist

The CRS credential allows resume writers the ability to showcase their expertise in specialized markets while giving job seekers in those markets access to the talented professionals they can turn to with confidence.

When job seekers look for a professional resume writer to guide them, it is always wise to look for one who is certified. But with the myriad of certification granting agencies and types of resume certifications, it can be a very confusing journey. With the Certified Resume Specialist (CRS) niche credentials, Career Directors International (CDI) has sought to make it easier for job seekers to find a highly qualified individual who specializes in their profession.

The CRS is unlike other resume certifications in that the resume writer must:

#1 – Have already earned a standard resume certification first, such as CDI’s Certified Advanced Resume Writer (CARW) or Certified Master Resume Writer (CMRW), before they can even apply for the CRS. This ensures that they are a highly talented professional at their craft.

#2 – Submit a portfolio of resumes created for their specific niche, such as Human Resources and Training, to receive a blind evaluation by CDI’s Certification Committee. Only upon approval of CDI’s high standards will they be granted the CRS credential for their niche.

CDI President, Laura DeCarlo, states, “The Certified Resume Specialist niche credentials are a revelation for both resume writers and job seekers alike. The credential allows resume writers the ability to showcase their expertise in specialized markets while giving job seekers in those markets access to the talented professionals they can turn to with confidence.”

The CRS is now available in 17 categories, with the two newest offerings to be added in Mining and Energy, and Military to Civilian Transition. These niche categories will expand again as CDI’s members forge into other specialties they wish to endorse:

  • Accounting and Finance - (CRS+AF)
  • Financial Services (CRS+FS)
  • Healthcare and Medical - (CRS+HM)
  • Education - (CRS+E)
  • Hospitality and Tourism - (CRS+HT)
  • Information Technology - (CRS+IT)
