Performance Rehabilitation & Integrated Medicine Partners With the Patriot Project
Watchung, NJ (PRWEB) October 02, 2014 -- Performance Rehabilitation & Integrated Medicine in Watchung, NJ is proud to be partnered with the Patriot Project. While veterans’ health benefits do include chiropractic, it has not been readily available for all wounded warriors. Thanks to the Patriot Project, veteran’s can now get the chiropractic care they need.
The movement began when Dr. Tim Novelli — a chiropractor in Ohio — was contacted by a former U.S. Army Ranger and Golden Knight, Dana Bowman, of Texas. Bowman had lost both legs during a training jump with the Knights. During a drive to Texas from the Walter Reed Hospital in Washington, D.C., Bowman had to stop his drive.
“I was unable to continue,” he said. “The pain was so bad.”
Shortly after and desperate for relief, Bowman sought the help of a chiropractor — Dr. Novelli — who turned his pain around. It was then when Bowman had an ‘ah ha’ moment.
“If this can help me, I imagine what it can do for others,” Bowman thought.
Dr. Novelli was invited to the 2012 HALO for Freedom event in Dallas where he worked more than 15 hours a day. During this weekend long event, he treated more than 150 wounded warriors, active military, and veterans and their families. Many in attendance never had chiropractic treatment before. To help with common musculoskeletal problems associated with being a soldier, they were instead on antidepressants and pain medications.
Dr. Novelli was so moved by the experience that when he arrived home, he started the Patriot Project. Since, it has expanded to over seventeen other states with more than 300 chiropractors participating.
Performance Rehabilitation & Integrated Medicine recognizes the need for active duty and veterans to have the option of a non-drug, non-surgical option for their painful conditions. Chiropractic treatment offers such care with attention to optimum function and patients’ overall health and wellness. Dr. Ron Spiaggia, D.C, the founder and clinic director of Performance Rehabilitation & Integrated Medicine is honored to work with the Patriot Project. He feels strongly about supporting and helping the men and women of this country that have given their time, energy and even their lives to allow us to have the freedoms we have.
“Freedom isn’t free. Being able to give back to those who put their lives on the line to protect and serve our country and their families is an honor,” said Dr. Spiaggia.
He is very passionate about giving back to these men and women and this is just one way that he can do this.
