Harris Teeter goes one step further in understanding the difference they make. - Jane McIntyre, executive director of United Way of Central Carolinas
Matthews, N.C. (PRWEB) September 30, 2014
On Aug. 13, 2014, Harris Teeter launched a donation card campaign to support United Way, an organization that utilizes strategic community philanthropy to create long lasting change for those most in need.
From Aug. 13, 2014 – Sept. 12, 2014, Harris Teeter customers at every Harris Teeter location were able to make $1, $3 or $5 donations to United Way at checkout. Similar community-based donation card campaigns hosted by Harris Teeter have raised over $1.6 million this year for various nonprofit partners.
“Harris Teeter is proud to once again support United Way by providing our shoppers and associates a convenience way to donate at checkout,” said Danna Jones, communication manager for Harris Teeter. “Our goal is to not only raise money for United Way, but also to increase awareness of the nonprofit’s role in raising funds for its local nonprofit partner agencies. We appreciate the involvement of our shoppers and associates during this campaign, and we are thankful for their extreme generosity.”
The funds donated to United Way at checkout will be given to the United Way chapter in the community nearest to the Harris Teeter at which the money was raised.
“One thing never to be missed about Harris Teeter is their commitment to all communities where they have stores with employees,” said Jane McIntyre, executive director of United Way of Central Carolinas. “They have supported United Way with their individual employee giving and asking their customers to support them in this effort at the cash register. Harris Teeter goes one step further in understanding the difference they make. They also offer job opportunities to so many. Sometimes these are individuals that are served by United Way partner agencies with exceptional skills. We are thankful to Harris Teeter, and their customers, for the tremendous role they play in United Way.”
