Visiting Nurse Association Health Group’s Dr. Steven Landers Honored with NJ BIZ “40 Under 40” Award
Red Bank, New Jersey (PRWEB) September 30, 2014 -- Visiting Nurse Association (VNA) Health Group —New Jersey’s largest not-for-profit visiting nurse association—is pleased to announce that Steven Landers, MD, MPH, president and chief executive officer, was honored with a NJBIZ “40 Under 40” award on Monday evening. The NJBIZ award celebrates 40 of New Jersey’s most accomplished young businessmen and women who have been making headlines in their field and who share a commitment to business growth, professional excellence and to the community.
Dr. Landers is a family physician and geriatrician and has emerged to become one of the most visible and respected under-40 leaders integrating connected health technologies with home care to serve the needs of the most vulnerable.
In 2012, Dr. Landers joined VNA Health Group as president and chief executive officer and also is an Associate Professor of Family Medicine and Community Health at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, New Brunswick, NJ. At VNA Health Group, Dr. Landers directed operational and cultural changes to improve patient care in the home through a powerful combination of compassionate caregiving and cutting-edge technologies. He oversaw changes to its leadership team, acquired new grants and contracts, enhanced hospital and physician partnerships, reduced cost-per-unit, and overhauled business intelligence and information systems. He has helped to elevate the organization’s positioning on a national level and strengthened its long-term financial sustainability, and has become a trusted voice for state and federal health care reform.
Prior to joining VNA Health Group, Dr. Landers was director of post-acute operations at Cleveland Clinic where he brought innovative ideas and technology to the traditional house call visit by championing new mobile and digital technologies. These devices connected patients, families, and providers with a goal of improving care, self-management, education, and independence.
Dr. Landers was named “Physician of the Year” in 2009 by the National Association for Home Care and Hospice and was named Crain's Cleveland Business "Forty Under 40” in 2011, and serves on numerous not-for-profit boards. Dr. Landers earned his medical degree at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine and a master’s degree in public health at Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Hygiene and Public Health.
An independent panel of judges scored each nominee on a specific set of criteria: professional accomplishments, leadership, vision, and community service. Winners were honored during an awards reception Monday, September 29, 2014 at the Palace at Somerset Park in Somerset, NJ.
