51 Degrees - But Only One Degree of Separation for The Sales Whisperer® Fundraising Swim

What made an Air Force Academy Grad, meteorologist, entrepreneur, author, sales trainer, and 44-year old father of seven decide to swim 3.1 miles to raise money for the Navy SEAL Foundation?

....after 22 plus years — he’s still putting it on the line for the defense of our nation because there are bad people in this world...."

This doesn't have anything to do with the "Six Degrees of Separation" game and actor Kevin Bacon. It isn't a game at all. In fact, it is very serious.

Wes Schaeffer, professionally known as The Sales Whisperer®, was recruited by the United States Air Force Academy for his football talents, his work ethic, and because he never does anything half way. When he was in junior high school and needed to hone his dribbling and free throw skills, he literally bounced the bumps off of his basketball practicing at home. His team became City champs, and he was the high scorer.

Why swim 3.1 miles for the Navy SEAL Foundation? Schaeffer explains it this way, "I graduated from the....Academy with a cool dude. A crazy dude. An American. A warrior. While I went on for additional studies and a five-year career as a weather officer, that cool dude immediately cross-commissioned into the Navy and became a SEAL.

"Even his name, while not a secret, is withheld....because today –– after 22 plus years — he’s still putting it on the line for the defense of our nation because there are bad people in this world who want to do bad things to you, to me, and especially to our special warfare community."

That's the one degree of separation. What about the 51 degrees? It happens on January 11, 2015.

"That’s when this crazy dude and I (and 150 other supporters of our Navy SEALs) will voluntarily enter the wintry water of Tampa Bay to swim 3.1 miles to raise awareness and money for the Navy SEAL Foundation. The foundation provides immediate and ongoing support and assistance to the Naval Special Warfare Community and its families."

Since March 4, 2002, 91 Navy SEALS have given their lives. Monies raised go to assist injured warriors and families of those who have given their all.

True to form, Schaeffer isn't doing this swim like everyone else. He has committed to raising five times the amount normally requested of participants, and plans to raise $5,000 for the Navy SEAL Foundation.
