Houston Neuro & Spine Surgery Plans to Develop Center of Neurosurgical Excellence
Houston, TX (PRWEB) September 29, 2014 -- Dr. Robert Levinthal, a native Houstonian who has practiced neurosurgery for over 25 years in his hometown, returns to Houston Neuro & Spine Surgery to develop a comprehensive general Neurosurgical and Spine Center.
Over the last nine years, Dr. Levinthal has practiced in College Station, Darnall Army Hospital at Fort Hood and Lubbock. He will utilize his extensive experience to develop a Center of Neurosurgical Excellence devoted to the goal of excellence in neurosurgical care with the judgment to perform necessary surgery, only if all appropriate non-surgical treatment has been considered.
Dr. Levinthal believes in the importance of physician/patient honesty and transparent communication to establish optimal results.
He received a B.A. in psychology from the University of Texas at Austin and his M.D. from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio where he served as president of the first graduating class. Drafted by the U. S. Army at the conclusion of his surgical internship at UCLA Medical Center, he served as a general medical officer in the Army Medical Corps at Fort Hood, TX. At the conclusion of his two years of active duty, he returned to UCLA for his neurosurgical residency training.
He completed all criteria necessary for Board certification at the earliest date possible and received his Neurosurgical Board Certification. In addition to being a diplomate of the American Board of Neurological Surgeons, he is also a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and a member of a number of other associations, including American Association of Neurological Surgeons, Congress of Neurologic Surgeons, North American Spine Society, AMA, TMA, etc.
Dr. Levinthal performs basic neurosurgery procedures, such as discectomies, foraminotomies, kyphoplasties, and he is one of a few of the Houston neurosurgeons who performs corrections on adult spinal deformity.
