Codan Launches Quicker, More Robust Long Range Communications
Melbourne, Australia — Comms Connect 2014, stand #137 (PRWEB) October 01, 2014 -- Codan Radio Communications, a division of Codan Limited (ASX-CDA), has announced an upgrade to their 3G ALE long range communications waveform, resulting in quicker voice and messaging, and a more robust communications link.
The third-generation (3G) Automatic Link Establishment (ALE) STANAG 4538 waveform is considered the most robust and effective current standard with the shortest linking times, especially critical in difficult High Frequency (HF) radio conditions.
With the upgrade now available on the Codan 2110 series Manpacks, Codan’s 3G ALE has the distinct advantages of offering up to 250 character text messages direct from the radio, delivered in the most challenging conditions, as well as faster and more robust linking of voice calls.
“Codan’s 3G ALE is a critical step forward for long range digital communications. It provides the highest degree of reliability possible over HF and ensures that users in the field have a means to be located and heard” said Paul McCarter, Executive General Manager of Codan Radio Communications.
“We believe we have a crucial role in providing resilient communications that save lives and provide security. Through the upgrade to our 3G ALE capabilities, we’re ensuring that every person, not matter where they are in the world, has the means to communicate without reliance on fixed communications infrastructure”.
Other features include GPS position send / request for tracking purposes, AES-256 bit data traffic encryption, and configurable operation for either pre-defined or self-learning networks, for ease of network maintenance. The Codan Adaptive Signaling Technology (CAST) waveform ensures maximum throughput by adapting the modulation scheme to the prevailing channel conditions.
“What customers can expect is more reliable and faster long range communications backed by dependable and high quality Codan product design and manufacture. We know that when seconds count, you have to ensure you’re using the most reliable communications platform and that’s what we deliver” said Mr McCarter.
