U.S. Department of Education Approves Masters Program for IT Configuration Managers at National American University
Austin, Texas (PRWEB) September 30, 2014 -- The Roueche Graduate Center at National American University recently received U.S. Department of Education approval to offer four new concentration areas for their Master of Management (MM) and MBA programs. The first concentration to launch is in Operations and Configuration Management and will be available in January 2015. The concentration is designed to teach students the skills necessary to effectively manage business operations and supply chains, as well as develop and refine process requirements and configurations.
In a recent report by PayScale.com, “IT Configuration Manager” made their “Best Jobs in America” list, coming in at number eight thanks to high salaries and a strong projected 10-year job growth rate, beating out careers in accounting, nursing and engineering.
Configuration Management (CM) is an essential IT practice to ensure work performed meets specifications. It is widely used by military engineering companies to develop the project scope, assign roles and responsibilities, monitor and control the work, and evaluate performance. In Information Technology, CM provides a life cycle model that simplifies the development and integration of complex solutions.
The curriculum includes coursework in supply chain management, the fundamentals of configuration management and advanced configuration management techniques with special emphasis placed on practical applications commonly used in manufacturing, development, logistics, and IT. Graduates in this concentration can pursue careers as operations managers and related fields.
“National American University has solid business programs to prepare students to be managers in healthcare administration, human resources and criminal justice,” explained Dr. Coral Noonan-Terry, Vice President and Dean of the Roueche Graduate Center. “We are delighted to offer a new concentration in Operations and Configuration Management to our students—in a distinctive area that trains the kind of professional that every business needs.”
National American University’s business masters degrees are offered online, making courses accessible to students around the world. Other new concentrations launching in 2015 include: E-Marketing, Internet/Cyber Security, and Project Management.
