University of Dallas and EarthPeople Media Present ‘Eco-Innovation: There’s an App for That!’
Irving, TX (PRWEB) October 01, 2014 -- The Satish & Yasmin Gupta College of Business at the University of Dallas will host a panel discussion on Friday, Oct. 10 to explore why and how companies and entrepreneurs are developing apps to solve environmental challenges. The event will take place from 7:30 – 9:30 a.m. in the Haggar University Center on the University of Dallas campus. The complimentary event includes breakfast, presentations, an interactive roundtable discussion and networking with Dallas/Fort Worth business leaders.
The event is hosted by the University of Dallas Business and Society Network, an open forum for building relationships, exchanging best practices, and fostering dialogue around issues of corporate social responsibility (CSR), sustainability and eco-innovation. The presentation partner is EarthPeople Media, a Dallas-based strategic communications firm and publisher of books and media on sustainability and social innovation.
Eco-innovation is the practice of developing and refining ideas into useful forms to create business value and benefit the environment at the same time. Innovating with apps to promote sustainability gives companies a way to generate brand awareness, optimize processes and engage stakeholders.
“The event looks beyond CSR toward the strategic end of the spectrum of corporate sustainability. App development involves using social technology to go ‘beyond compliance’ in order to optimize and create,” said Anna Clark, president of EarthPeople Media and executive in residence at University of Dallas’ Satish and Yasmin Gupta College of Business.
Presenters include Blake Burris, chief hacktivist with Cleanweb Network; Andrew Miller, co-founder of Compost Denton; and Kim Hall, CPA and project manager for a NTx Apps Challenge team. Burris, an expert on the creation of grassroots innovation communities, will guide the audience into the eco-innovation process. Next, a panel of entrepreneurs will discuss how they approached the app creation process and how to leverage the same tools for success.
This University of Dallas Business and Society Network quarterly event is geared toward professionals, students and business owners interested in integrating sustainability into their operations, human resources, supply chains, marketing and other business functions.
