Surveillance company Q-See recently gave back to the community by donating a new 16-channel, 8-camera security system to the Animal Welfare Society of Jefferson County, a non-profit, no-kill shelter located in West Virginia. The new system, which should help the shelter improve indoor and outdoor security monitoring, was installed as part of a widespread renovation to improve the shelter’s technology and capacity.

Security and surveillance company Q-See recently showed support for the Animal Welfare Society of Jefferson County (AWSJC), an animal shelter located in Kearneysville, West Virginia, through the charitable donation of an advanced security system, which will ensure better monitoring of the shelter’s indoor and outdoor areas. The company donated a 16 Channel 960H Security System outfitted with a 2 terabyte hard drive and 8 high-resolution cameras. This system features convenient mobile connectivity via Q-See apps, along with a 100-degree field of night vision, and it represents a significant improvement over the shelter’s old security system, which consisted only of a trail camera mounted over the kennel area. The security system was upgraded as part of an ongoing renovation of the entire AWSJC shelter, which was built in 1984; besides ensuring that the shelter is outfitted with state-of-the-art technology, the renovation aims to increase the shelter’s capacity and create space for an isolation room, where incoming animals can be kept until they are vaccinated and can be safely placed with other animals.

AWSJC was established more than 60 years ago, as a non-profit, no-kill shelter facilitating the adoption of puppies, dogs, kittens, and cats. The shelter has expanded since its foundation, and it houses as many as 500 neglected, abandoned, or surrendered pets over the course of a typical year; in recent years, however, the shelter has struggled to meet demand while providing its animals with an environment that is not unhealthy or overcrowded. The shelter’s ongoing existence and necessary projects, such as the current renovation, are made largely possible through the efforts of volunteers and assistance from companies such as Q-See, which welcomed the opportunity to show support through this charitable donation. In addition to offering the surveillance system free of cost, Q-See helped AWSJC by providing an upgraded system, with greater terabyte capacity than originally requested, and by testing the performance of the cameras and DVR before shipping the system to the shelter.
