Mercatus Releases US Solar Market Insight Report
San Jose, CA (PRWEB) October 02, 2014 -- Mercatus Inc., a leading provider of on-demand software and services for the renewable energy finance market, today released its US Commercial Solar Market Insight Report for First Half of 2014. The report draws on robust data from more than 2,500 commercial solar projects from more than 50 investors and 300 developers.
Key findings in the report include the trend of more operating assets coming on the market and the acceleration of investment in Northeast projects.
The report indicates that the number of operating assets on the Mercatus platform has gone from 10% in the first half of 2013 to 35% in the first half of 2014. “We are seeing significant increases in the number of operating assets coming on the market,” says Haresh Patel, CEO of Mercatus. “This is mostly driven by the demand for low-risk, profitable projects that Yieldcos are creating.”
Another important trend that the report covers is the shift in investment from the West to the Northeast. In the first half of 2013, 60% of projects in Mercatus were located in the West while only 20% were located in the Northeast. However, in the first half of 2014, only 33% of projects were in the West and 47% were in the Northeast. “The main areas of growth in the Northeast were Massachusetts, New York and New Jersey,” says Patel. “These states have incentive programs, such as NYSERDA and SREC, that have successfully driven growth in commercial solar.”
