Clarkson University in Potsdam, NY recently appointed Rondalyn V. Whitney (Ph.D. in Global Health Education, Trident Class of ‘11) as the director and founding chair of a proposed master’s-level occupational therapy program, as well as an associate professor of occupational therapy. Whitney is charged with establishing and launching the new program for the University. Previously, she served as an assistant professor and interim director of the occupational therapy doctoral program at the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia. She is a member of the American Occupational Therapy Association Roster of Fellows, one of the highest honors in the field.
BSBA GRAD, NAVY VET RUNNING FOR U.S. CONGRESS SEAT
Michael McKenna (Bachelors of Science in Business Administration, Trident Class of ’13) recently won the Democratic nomination for the United States congressional seat in Florida’s 10th district. He beat opponents Shayan Modarres and William Ferree in the Aug. 26th primary contest, winning 49.9% of the votes and spending only $5,000 on his campaign. He will face off against incumbent Republican Daniel Webster in the Nov. 4th general election. McKenna is a 14-year veteran of the United States Navy.
MBA GRADUATE, AIR FORCE VET SEES SUCCESS AS I.T. EXECUTIVE
Keith McIntosh (Masters in Business Administration, Trident Class of ‘08) was recently named Associate Vice President for Information Technology Services and Chief Information Officer at Ithaca College in New York State. McIntosh, a 25-year veteran of the United States Air Force, was most recently serving as Vice Chancellor for Information Technology for the Pima County Community College District in Tucson, Arizona. McIntosh has over three decades of experience in information technology. During his time with the Air Force he held multiple leadership positions and was also recognized with a number of awards for his service.
GRAD SEES SUCCESS BOTH AS AUTHOR AND ACADEMIC PROFESSIONAL
Trident graduate Ivan Diaz (Ph.D. in Educational Leadership, Trident Class of ‘10) just saw the release of his book Full Blue New York, a fiction title focused on crime and politics of his hometown of New York. Diaz is an experienced writer, having authored the book On the Nature of the Puerto Rican Universe and writing for Hispanic Link Weekly Report, which is distributed by the Los Angeles Times. His dissertation covered education and linguistics, research that is used in his job as an English/ESL teacher for the New York City Department of Education. Diaz’s latest book can be purchased here.
MBA GRAD SINGS NATIONAL ANTHEM AT TRIDENT COMMENCEMENT
George Ingram III (Masters in Business Administration, Trident Class of ’14) performed the National Anthem at Trident’s 2014 Graduation Ceremony on July 26th in Long Beach, CA. Trident’s Graduation Committee selected him from a pool of talented individuals – all of whom will be 2014 grads – to represent his class and his university on this special day. Ingram has a diverse performance background in concert, opera, music theatre, theatre, and film. He has performed as a soloist at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Carnegie Hall, and concert halls in the U.S., Germany, France, Austria, and Switzerland.
VETERAN, MBA GRAD MAKES SUCCESSFUL TRANSITION INTO CIVILIAN LIFE
Upon leaving the U.S. Army, Juan Tellado (Masters of Business Administration, Trident Class of ’14) wasn’t quite sure how his military experience would translate into a civilian career. Making the military to civilian transition can be tough, but Tellado leveraged his education so he could gain the important soft skills needed to succeed after his time in the service. Currently employed by the Department of Homeland Security, Tellado manages over 90 immigration cases and credits his current success to his time at Trident where has was able to refine his military training while developing the necessary tools to succeed in corporate America.
