CrossFit Outbreak Announces Grand Opening to Bring CrossFit Training to the Brooklyn Area This October
Brooklyn, NY (PRWEB) October 01, 2014 -- CrossFit Outbreak, based in Brooklyn, New York, is pleased to announce its grand opening in early October. The new CrossFit gym is located in the Clinton Hill/Fort Greene neighborhood and will be the first gym of its kind in that area.
Adam Sturm, president of CrossFit Outbreak, said that this particular area of the community was lacking in health clubs and gyms. After noticing this vacancy, he and business partner/coach Shimi Litkowski decided to open their facility at 10 Grand Avenue, just between Park and Flushing Avenues.
Sturm commented that he and his team were excited to be opening up a CrossFit facility in a community that didn't already have one.
"We decided to open CrossFit Outbreak to share our passion for CrossFit with our community and neighbors," said Sturm. He also explained that the facility will offer coached, group strength, endurance and mobility classes every day of the week, with clients' health and wellness as CrossFit Outbreak's "top concern."
So far, CrossFit Outbreak has signed up dozens of new members, said Sturm, and they have several promotions for new customers. The new CrossFit Outbreak facility has also received press from a CrossFit trade magazine and a few features on the web, thanks to early press efforts.
CrossFit is a type of strength and conditioning training that was established in 2000 in Santa Cruz, California; it has been used by police academies, military special operations units, martial artists, and professional athletes all over the world. Participants in CrossFit programs complete a workout of the day (or "WOD") that incorporates elements of high-intensity interval training, weightlifting, gymnastics, calisthenics and other forms of exercise.
The workouts are completed on an individual basis, however, so participants practice according to their own comfort levels. The exercises focus on the concept of "scalability," which adapts the load and intensity of the workout to the individual without changing the workout program itself.
