Unique Ad Campaign Targets CA businesses

Starting today, business people in the Silicon Valley and San Francisco area will see a message – “Elon Musk Click Here.” Once people click the ad, they are taken to a landing page on Albuquerque Economic Development’s website - thanking Mr. Musk and his team for considering the Albuquerque metro area as a finalist for the Tesla Gigafactory. The message, currently being run in the Silicon Valley Business Journal and San Francisco Business Times, also invites other companies to consider the area.

“Simply, the landing page explains to other businesses that because Albuquerque was on Tesla’s short list for one of the nation’s most significant projects, perhaps their company should also discover what makes Albuquerque so competitive,” explained Gary Tonjes, President of AED. “Our hope is that this campaign will pique the interest of businesses considering expansion or relocation to a more attractive business environment.”

The campaign, the first part of a series of these types of ads, will be tracked for its effectiveness. The goal is to highlight Albuquerque’s attractiveness and lure new prospects to this 900,000 person metro area. Among the reasons to consider Albuquerque:

  •          A pipeline of talent, including 70,000 college students as part of a workforce that is younger and better educated than the national average
  •          Offers the lowest effective tax rate for manufacturers in the Western U.S.
  •          Low risk location for natural disasters
  •          Low cost of doing business
  •          An exceptional support network for entrepreneurs

“We will broaden the campaign into other markets,” Tonjes added. “The Space Age, The Atomic Age and the Computer Age were all started in New Mexico. Robert Goddard, Robert Oppenheimer, Bill Gates, and Sir Richard Branson more recently each demonstrated that this is a place where great ideas come to start. Albuquerque is a place of ingenuity, and our campaign extends an invitation for others to learn why the Albuquerque metro area has also emerged as one of the best places for business in the nation.”

AED is the non-profit organization recruiting new business to the area as it also assists existing business and industry throughout the Albuquerque metropolitan area. To view the message, please click here: http://www.abq.org/selectalbuquerque.aspx
