"To be in exactly the right place at the right time to view, experience and capture dual tornadoes spinning in front of me was surreal.” said Phil Bates, Artbeats CEO and director of the shoot.
MYRTLE CREEK, OR (PRWEB) October 02, 2014
Artbeats, known for their innovative aerial and effects footage, have made rare tornadoes, supercell storm structure and extreme weather accessible to the world in 5K resolution. This is an exciting advancement for the stock footage industry, due to the highly difficult nature of obtaining tornado and storm footage of this magnitude. All footage was shot using a RED EPIC camera outfitted with Red’s Motion Mount to keep lightning from creating split frame artifacts.
“After four years of storm chasing, my efforts finally paid off with bigger dividends than I could have imagined. To be in exactly the right place at the right time to view, experience and capture dual tornadoes spinning in front of me was surreal.” said Phil Bates, Artbeats CEO and director of the shoot. “But it was not just about tornadoes, the rotating cloud structure and turbulent nature of supercells brings a totally unique category of nature imagery to our library. I am ecstatic about these shots," he continued.
Phil traveled for seven days in June, on the high plains of Wyoming, Nebraska and South Dakota with experienced chasers Skip Talbot and pro-photographer Jennifer Brindly Ubl. “They graciously let me take up most of the room in the SUV for bulky tripods and camera gear.” said Bates. “I was privileged to work with people who share my passion for weather, who expertly positioned our vehicle to get those incomparable shots yet still keep us out of harms way.”
