EmLogis, a leading provider of employee scheduling software for corrections facilities, today announced that they will host a live webcast featuring guest speaker and corrections expert, David M. Parrish, Colonel (retired), Former Commander, and Former President of the American Jail Association. He will discuss the benefits of a direct supervision jail or correctional facility and will provide real world advice on ensuring the successful use of direct supervision in corrections facilities.

This live webcast “The 8 Principles of Direct Supervision and Why Commitment Should be the 9th” will be held on Thursday, October 9, 2014 at 1:00 PM CDT. To register for the live event or to receive a link to view the recorded event when available, please visit: http://www.emlogis.com/events/8-principles-direct-supervision-commitment-9th/

Direct Supervision has proven to be the most practical way to manage an entire jail, not just the hallways and control rooms. In recent years, however, there has been a tendency to revert to more traditional methods in many direct supervision jails. This is often attributed to crowding, shortage of staff and funding shortfalls. In reality, it is due to a lack of total “Commitment” to the principles and dynamics of direct supervision. Jail administrators and staff should be aware of factors that lead to this condition so that their facilities do not become direct supervision in name only.

In this webcast, attendees will learn:

  •     Indicators that reflect a lack of commitment to direct supervision
  •     Examples of what happens when jail administrators fail to fully commit to direct supervision
  •     The Eight “Supporting Principles” of direct supervision and why “commitment” should be the 9th

Professional that will benefit from attending this webcast:

  •     Elected officials with corrections facilities in their jurisdiction
  •     Jail administrators
  •     Corrections facility staff at all levels
