The Journey Continues: ACT Foundation Grantee and Partner Convening Plus First Anniversary
Austin, TX (PRWEB) October 04, 2014 -- Today, ACT Foundation brought together working learners, practitioners, solution developers, applied researchers, and other thought leaders from across the country in the areas of business, technology, education, philanthropy, and economic and community development to accelerate the accomplishments of ACT Foundation’s inaugural year and help map the path to a National Learning Economy that will cultivate the success of working learners, businesses, and the nation as a whole.
“Our first year of operation has been a whirlwind in which we laid the groundwork for efforts to catalyze and advance a National Learning Economy,” said Parminder K. Jassal, founding executive director of ACT Foundation. “This convening will help us continue to define and refine our efforts for better supporting working learners in achieving life satisfaction and career success.”
In October of 2013, ACT Foundation launched as a national foundation to catalyze and advance a National Learning Economy in which every person is highly valued for his or her knowledge and skills, and an individual’s ability to perform is rewarded by both life satisfaction and career success.
Since that launch one year ago this week, ACT Foundation has achieved a number of important milestones including the establishment of a Working Learner Advisory Council, which serves as a voice for the Foundation’s key beneficiaries; the launch of the National Network of Business and Industry Associations in cooperation with Business Roundtable, the formation of the Aces Applied Research Network, and the release of the National Learning Economy vision paper, which lays out ACT Foundation’s vision and mission in support of working learners in a National Learning Economy.
This year’s convening will focus on igniting new solutions development that better integrate living, learning, and working to support and empower all working learners across the nation in their individual journeys toward life satisfaction and career success.
