Three top chefs from New York, New Jersey and Connecticut are set to battle it out during the upcoming Tri-State Food Expo Culinary Competition on October 27, 2014 in Secaucus, NJ, in front of a live audience and celebrity judges.
The first-ever competition will feature three masters of their craft:
Representing New York is Chef Bill Dorrler, who serves as Executive Chef within the Altamarea Group. Chef Dorrler leads kitchen organization in several NY restaurants including Osteria Morini, The Butterfly, and Nicoletta Pizzeria. His attention to detail and passion for authentic Italian cuisine has earned him rave reviews from the New York Times, and top marks from The Star Ledger.
Representing New Jersey is Chef Peter Morris, who won the title of Top New Chef New Jersey 2014, in the New Jersey Restaurant Association’s Top New Chef Competition. Chef Peter is Chef de Cuisine at Langosta Lounge in Asbury Park which re-opened last year after being completely destroyed by Hurricane Sandy.
Representing Connecticut is Chef Jeffrey Lizotte, Executive Chef at ON20 whose background includes working at two Michelin-starred restaurants in France before returning to Connecticut where he was named the Best New Chef 2013 by Connecticut Magazine.
Competitors will be judged by a panel of celebrities in the industry, including Chef Barret Beyer and Chef Roshni Gurnani, both of Hell’s Kitchen fame, and the President of the New Jersey Restaurant Association, Marilou Halverson. The three chefs will have 45 minutes to create two savory courses, using a secret ingredient announced just minutes before the competition begins. Food and restaurant industry attendees will not want to miss the action or the chance to cheer on the esteemed chefs as they battle it out in the kitchen in front of a live audience.
