Taiwan Designers’ Week Looks to Canada for Insight and Leadership
TAIPEI, TAIWAN and VANCOUVER, BC (PRWEB) October 02, 2014 -- Global Mechanic, a Vancouver-based design company, announced today they will be co-presenting the keynote speech at this year’s Taiwan Designers’ Week (TWDW), an industry-leading design conference being held Oct 3-12. Global Mechanic is honoured to be the only Canadian design company invited to present at TWDW, and to play such a pivotal role in the international design community.
The Canadian Trade Office in Taipei has been instrumental in expanding Global Mechanic’s presence overseas. Besides securing Global Mechanic’s participation in TWDW, the Trade Office also set up key meetings between Global Mechanic and high-level Asian businesses, including Quanta, the exclusive manufacturer of the Apple Watch; HTC, a highly respected smartphone manufacturer; and HonHai/Foxconn, a leading manufacturer of iPhones and other electronic devices.
“This is a wonderful opportunity to exchange ideas with leaders in such respected global organizations, and a real thrill to be contributing to Taiwan Designers’ Week,” said Global Mechanic’s CEO, Tina Ouellette. “We’re fascinated by all the opportunities in cross-platform projects and design, whether it’s experimenting with new platforms, or combining traditional and cutting-edge techniques for unconventional user experiences.”
Kharis O’Connell, Global Mechanic’s Director of Experience Design, will co-present the keynote speech alongside Kyle Lin, head of IxDA Taiwan. Kharis will also run a workshop entitled “Building Device Devotion,” targeted to executives from select companies in Asia’s tech community.
An expert in design forms in cross-platform projects, Kharis has created virtual reality content for the Oculus Rift, educational digital platforms with app integration, wearable device product and interaction design, and responsive websites and experiences.
