Goodyear, Ariz (PRWEB) October 02, 2014 -- GOODYEAR, AZ (October 2, 2014) – On Saturday September 27, 2014 nearly 800 cyclists of all ages and abilities took to the streets to overcome cancer at the second annual Trails 4 Trials Charity Ride (T4T) in Goodyear, Arizona. In the past two years, the event has raised more than $272,000 to help fund innovative cancer research. All donations benefited Gateway for Cancer ResearchSM, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization focused on finding better treatment options for people battling cancer today. It takes an average of $18 per day, per patient, to fund a clinical trial. Thanks to generous sponsorships and dedicated participants, 14,847 more days of trials have been made possible since the event’s inception.
Beginning and ending at Cancer Treatment Centers of America® (CTCA), T4T included a sanctioned 100, 50 and 25-mile USA cycling road race and a three-mile Family Fun Ride. After the ride, participants and visitors enjoyed a free community Bike Bash celebration featuring live music, food, beverages, raffles, youth activities and more.
“We are thrilled at the amount of support we saw for our cause and the number of riders who came out for this event,” said Gateway President, Teresa Hall Bartels. “Trails 4 Trials celebrates heroic survivors, people living with cancer today, their families and caregivers and physician-researchers who work hard to save lives.”
Thanks to generous underwriting of event and administrative expenses by CTCA®, 99 cents of every dollar received funds innovative cancer clinical trials.
