The John S. With monetary donations, the Foundation purchases and delivers fresh food, such as milk, eggs and produce. With the upcoming holidays, the Foundation will furnish the pantries with complete meals. According to the federal government, Washington, D.C. has a 13.4% food insecurity rate, with the majority of these individuals and families residing in the neighborhoods the Foundation serves – Southeast and Northeast Washington.
“We are certainly not solving the problem of feeding the poor, but we are contributing to the solution,” stated JSM Chairman Brian M. Mulholland. “Thousands have responded to our call for help, and this, coupled with the many other organizations successfully tackling the issue, means that the burdens our neighbors face every day are being addressed in a compassionate and dignified manner.”
