The Humane Society of Tampa Bay Partners with Young Professionals
Tampa, FL (PRWEB) October 07, 2014 -- Through a dedicated Board of young professional supporters, the Humane Society of Tampa Bay created an affiliate group called “PetNet.” PetNet’s participants are generally ages 21-45 (or young at heart).
In less than a year since December 2013, PetNet has had sponsored events at venues such as The Tampa Club, Timpano Italian Chophouse, Cristino’s, Byblos, Davis Island Pizza, and a cycling event at Soho Cycling. Through event donations and sponsorships, PetNet has collectively raised over $20,000 in total for the Humane Society of Tampa Bay. PetNet’s membership base is over 75 members, most of who are Millenials who have been in the workplace for 10 years or less.
“Our participants are interested in meeting like-minded individuals to support a wonderful cause, all while having a great time,” stated attorney Shaun Amarnani, PetNet founder and Program Chair. “It has been a great way for younger professionals to learn more about the Humane Society of Tampa Bay.”
“The PetNet members are constantly coming up with new ideas, and bringing creative solutions to the table,” said Sherry Silk, Director of the Humane Society of Tampa Bay.
The PetNet Board brought attention to the opportunity for the Humane Society of Tampa Bay to participate in the first annual Give Day Tampa Bay. The PetNet Board even helped create a marketing plan for the event. As a result, the Humane Society of Tampa Bay placed 4th in total donations out of over 200 charities, raising over $10,000 in a single day.
While the charity young professional affiliate group concept is new to the Tampa area, Amarnani hopes that other charitable organizations will follow suit. “Hopefully our success will motivate other non-profit organizations to look to more Millennials for leadership roles. Millennials want to contribute their ideas and work skills towards charitable causes, but they need to be put into the right types of leadership roles to contribute,” Amarnani stated.
