New geosocial networking app ‘swop’ to celebrate beta-launch on October 3, 2014
Provo, Utah (PRWEB) October 03, 2014 -- swop, a new geosocial networking app that allows two people to exchange all of their personal networking information in one instantaneous “swop,” will celebrate its move into beta testing on Friday, October 3, 2014, with a series of launch events planned for more than a dozen colleges and youth-oriented venues across the United States.
The brainchild of three college friends, swop is designed to streamline the process by which friends, family, co-workers, and acquaintances share their phone numbers, email addresses, Facebook accounts, and Twitter and Instragram handles with one another. Instead of clumsily exchanging one piece of information at a time, swop lets users quickly and effortlessly connect with one other on the most popular social networking platforms.
“swop is providing a 21st-century way for people to connect with one other across all of their social-media platforms instantly, with just a few swipes of their phone,” said Mitch Fultz, co-founder and CEO of swop. “If I’m adding a new friend on Facebook, then I probably want to follow her on Twitter and Instagram too. Why would I want to manually type in all of her user information separately on each platform?”
swop’s launch team is embarking on a weeks-long campaign beginning October 3 to bring its revolutionary new app to colleges and other youth-oriented events across the United States. Initial launch events will be held in Provo, Utah, where the app was founded, and in Orlando, Florida.
Through strategic partnerships with nationally recognized musicians, as well as campus parties and social media outreach, swop’s launch team will be working to start a viral movement among college-aged adults that will eventually stretch around the globe and reach people of all ages.
“We fully believe swop will go viral among smartphone users because it’s so easy, safe, and convenient to use,” said Sean O’Rourke, swop co-founder and chief marketing officer.
swop’s proprietary system allows users to upload all of their personal social networking information to a secure server. Then, using swop’s geospatial technology, the user can request to “swop” networking information with another swop user nearby. The second user must approve the request on his phone before any information can be exchanged.
“This is how we stay connected to each other now—the days of just exchanging cell phone numbers are over,” said Jameson Gardner, swop co-founder and chief operating officer. “swop is the new phone number scrawled on a scrap of paper.”
Following a massive BYU football tailgating party and music concert in Provo, swop will sweep into more than a dozen college markets, including University of Utah; Brigham Young University in Hawaii and Idaho; Utah State University; Arizona State University; University of Nevada, Las Vegas; University of Washington; and major universities in Los Angeles and Boston. At the parties, swop will give away swag and encourage partygoers to use the free swop app to exchange information with new friends. Details about each launch event will be announced online and on social media as they are finalized.

About swop
swop is a revolutionary new geosocial networking app that allows two people in close proximity to exchange all of their personal social networking information in an instantaneous “swop.” The free app is designed to streamline the process by which friends, family, co-workers, and acquaintances share the five most popular pieces of networking information with one another—phone number, email address, Facebook account, and Twitter and Instragram handles—eliminating the need for clumsy, awkward exchanges of one piece of information at a time. swop’s proprietary system allows users to upload all of their personal networking information to a secure server. Then, using swop’s geospatial technology, the user can request to “swop” information with another swop user nearby. The second user must approve the request on his phone before any information can be exchanged. swop’s privacy settings allow users to switch off the ability to be “seen” by nearby users and to decide what information to share. A request to “swop” information can be denied just as easily as it can be sent.
About the founders
swop is the brainchild of three college friends at Brigham Young University in Utah who were searching for a way to quickly exchange personal information with classmates. As they grew weary of awkward, time-consuming exchanges of information, they decided to build their own tech-friendly solution from the ground up. In early 2014, they took a leave of absence from their studies at BYU to focus on the company full-time. CEO Mitch Fultz, a native of Westminster, Md., outside Washington, D.C., is a 23-year-old finance major who had his heart set on going to work on Wall Street when he enrolled at BYU. But he couldn’t be happier about this abrupt U-turn as he pursues making swop a success. COO Jameson Gardner, a native of Seattle, Wash., is a 23-year-old BYU microbiology major who’s become so enthralled with swop that he doesn’t mind putting his future career in science research on hold. Gardner’s roommate, CMO Sean O’Rourke, a native of Cleveland, Ohio, is a 22-year-old BYU advertising major who’s long been passionate about brand perception and how it shapes profitability, shareability, and loyalty; O’Rourke is responsible for swop’s design and user experience.
