Held in conjunction with the Tennessee Bar Association’s Annual Health Law Forum, the Health Law Primer often serves as a continuing education starting point for attorneys who are new to health law. Through the presentation of “Lifecycle of a Physician Practice,” Mr. Cranford and Ms. Busby will provide an overview of topics including physician employment, issues in employment contracts, compensation models and fair market value considerations. They will also explore issues surrounding becoming a shareholder, hospital purchase-and-employ transactions and related valuation issues. In addition, the presentation will address hospital-physician alignment models and related valuation issues along with post-termination issues, including non-competes, medical records issues, and notices to patients.
A Certified Public Accountant, Mr. Cranford holds more than 25 years of experience as a senior executive and financial manager in the healthcare field. Specializing in physician services and healthcare consulting, Mr. Cranford is dedicated in the areas of physician practice management, healthcare mergers and acquisition advisory, and healthcare financial consulting -- including outsourced accounting, compensation modeling, due diligence and financial forecasting. He also provides expert witness testimony as litigation support in healthcare cases involving contractual disputes. During his career, Mr. Cranford has served as a Chief Financial Officer of a community hospital, and he also served as a Controller and Vice President of Finance at a tertiary teaching hospital. His responsibilities included financial reporting, budgeting, bond compliance, cash management, registration, patient accounts receivable, medical records, information services, decision support, and purchasing services as well as reporting to the board of directors.
Ms. Busby is a founding member of Anderson Busby PLLC.
