CareSource Foundation Provides Funding for 30 Nonprofit Organizations in Ohio

The CareSource Foundation funds nonprofits that share the Foundation’s mission of advancing the health and well-being of underserved people in the communities they serve. The funding supports innovative solutions to address health care needs.
CareSource is a leader in cultivating partnerships that enhance and improve the health care and life services for consumers. The grants announced this quarter have been selected through a rigorous review process that evaluates innovation, impact and sustainability.
“We are in our eighth year of operation and the CareSource Foundation has invested $9.4 million in more than 750 statewide grants to 453 organizations. Our support of consumer needs is aligned with our mission to make a difference by improving the health and well-being of residents,” said Cathy Ponitz, Executive Director of the CareSource Foundation.
CareSource 3rd Quarter Foundation Grants Highlights:
• Agape for Youth Inc. (Dayton) is a Foster Care, Adoption through Foster Care and Reunification Services agency with a 25-year history of serving children and families in southwest Ohio. The CareSource grant of $15,000 will provide support for recruitment of healthy and safe foster families, specialized training and guidance for teenagers.
• CHOICES for Victims of Domestic Violence (Columbus) was established in 1977 and is the primary direct service provider to central Ohio families experiencing domestic violence. CHOICES provides, counseling, shelter, crisis intervention, education, community and legal support, and advocacy. In addition to the 34-bed shelter, CHOICES operates a 24-Hour Crisis & Domestic Violence Information hotline. The CareSource grant of $10,000 will provide operating support for both the shelter and other agency services.
• Interact for Change (Health Foundation of Greater Cincinnati) operates school-based health centers and serves an essential role in reducing barriers to health care for children who are medically underserved and living in high-risk situations. The organization improves health outcomes and school attendance to increase academic performance. The CareSource grant of $20,000 will help fund the new Deaconess Health Check Dental Center, which is part of the school-based health center in Western Hills. The Dental Center will open this fall to serve 2,200 preschoolers, children and teens.
