Clariant opens Engineering Project Center, North America - Charles Skeen to head unit
Charlotte, NC (PRWEB) October 06, 2014 -- • Louisville, Kentucky, engineering facility will support all North American operations
• New facility part of Clariant’s focus on customer-centered innovation
• Skeen brings nearly quarter-century of experience to position
Clariant, a world leader in specialty chemicals, has opened an Engineering Project Center, North America, in Louisville, Kentucky. The new facility provides project management and engineering services for current and future capital projects, said Kenneth Golder, North American Region Head of Clariant.
The Engineering Project Center, North America, is responsible for managing major, ongoing and expected investment projects on the continent. The Engineering Center is part of the Clariant global engineering and technology organization, with the project management, complex engineering and chemical process expertise required for retrofits, new lines and new plants.
Charles Skeen brings broad experience to new position: Charlie Skeen, who has held engineering and manufacturing positions in the chemical industry for 24 years, has been named Head of the Center. His previous experience was with Maverick Technologies, Dow Chemical Company, and Rohm and Haas. Skeen earned a master’s degree in chemical engineering from the University of Louisville.
Engineering Project Center staff members currently are overseeing construction of Clariant’s new polypropylene catalyst production plant in Louisville, site of Clariant’s largest US production hub. It will serve the fast-growing polypropylene industry. The Engineering Center also is leading the second expansion of Clariant’s ethoxylation site at Clear Lake (Pasadena), Texas. It will provide the necessary further capacity to meet greater demand for personal and home care products for fast growing markets in the Americas.
"Clariant is making significant investments in customer-focused product and process innovation in North America," Golder said. "This new Engineering Center will explore opportunities for innovation in products and processes, and Charlie Skeen is eminently qualified to lead the effort."
“I’m glad to be back in Louisville, an area I know well, working with a company with strategic growth plans and continuing to develop and provide the new products that meet customer needs,” Skeen said.
The new Engineering Project Center is based at Clariant’s Louisville West plant, 1227 South 12th Street, Louisville.
