"Leading Edge", hosted by Jimmy Johnson, is set to produce a new segment on arthroscopic knee surgery
(PRWEB) October 08, 2014 -- Jimmy Johnson, the former head coach of the Dallas Cowboys, will be hosting a special segment on his Leading Edge program to examine arthroscopic knee surgery.
The surgery is commonly performed on professional athletes and regular Americans alike. An arthroscopy is a surgical procedure employed to view, diagnose and eventually treat issues within a joint. Small incisions are made with instruments that contain a tiny lens and lighting so that the joint's internal structures can be seen by operating surgeons.
Once the knee injury is diagnosed, the arthroscopic surgery is performed by making a small incision where an arthroscope is inserted and other instruments are employed to correct the problem. A general anesthetic is used during the operation and pain medication is prescribed for the patient to use in the days after the surgery. Host Jimmy Johnson will host a segment that delves into the details of the surgery and more on this Leading Edge program.
The Leading Edge program is distributed to Public Television stations within the United States of America. The purpose of the Leading Edge series is to use short form television segments to inform the viewing audience about popular topics of concern. The Leading Edge series examines much more than health issues like arthroscopic knee surgery. Episodes also examine educational, environmental and social subjects as well. Leading Edge is not affiliated with PBS.
