Women are starting more and more businesses every year, and reached a milestone in 2014, according to studies conducted by American Express. There are now more than 9.1 million women-owned businesses in the U.S. that generate more than $1.4 trillion in revenues, employ 7.9 million people and account for 30% of all enterprises.

To support the success of women-owned businesses in Southern California, SCORE Orange County and Wells Fargo have teamed up to host the 3rd Annual Women Business Owners Conference at the Newport Beach Marriott Hotel and Spa, Fashion Island, on Thursday October 30th, from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The conference’s theme is “Fast Forward: Strategies for Success in Today’s World.”

This exciting event is designed for women business owners who want to make valuable connections and learn skills that will help them succeed in the coming year. “SCORE’s goal is to help women business owners grow and thrive in today’s economy,” said Martha Ryan, Chair of SCORE’s Women In Business Breakfast series, and member of the WBO Planning Committee.

“The conference will bring together more than 500 like-minded business owners -- and their target customers -- to network and to learn practical tips about social media, branding, access to capital, corporate diversity contracts, marketing, sales techniques, and motivation. Our keynote and conference speakers will inspire and encourage Southern California women business owners to take their businesses to the next level of success in the coming year.”

The Women Business Owners Conference boasts a full day program of engaging and inspiring speakers, including keynote speaker Gail Goodman, CEO of Constant Contact, a small business expert and visionary who led her company through a successful IPO and has been the architect of the company’s growth to 1,200 employees and seven offices, including one in the U.K. Today, more than half a million customers use Constant Contact’s online marketing tools to engage their customers and grow their businesses. Gail will speak about the ways in which Small is Powerful in the business world. Our second keynote speaker will be Giselle Chapman, founder of Chapman Business Solutions, an engaging and nationally recognized speaker who is highly sought after for her ability to motivate audiences to think, feel, and act differently. Giselle will energize, motivate, and inspire the audience with her talk titled Ready, Set, RACE to Your Success.

The conference lineup also includes noted experts in social media, marketing and leadership skills, including Mara Hoover, Steve Wiideman, Kim Shephard, Laurel Mintz, Bridget Ayers, and Rieva Lesonsky, as well as a joint presentation by Wells Fargo and the SBA on how to win diversity contracts with major corporations. The conference’s afternoon session will feature inspiring Success Stories told by SCORE clients, moderated by Tom Patty, former president and worldwide Nissan account director for Chiat/Day Advertising, who helped build the advertising agency’s revenues from $30 million to more than $100 million a year.

This conference is made possible through the generous sponsorship of Wells Fargo, SCORE Orange County, Westminster Veterinary Group, US Bank, Pacific Premier Bank, and many others. Additional sponsorship opportunities and exhibit tables are available at
