Rock Hill,South Carolina (PRWEB) October 10, 2014 -- In large metropolitan sprawls like New York City and Tokyo, the mass transit system is the true lifeline of the city. Until recently, connecting with individuals across subways platforms and stations meant making a physical phone call. Now commuters are able to stay in contact more quickly and effortlessly by using apps like NearZone and DisasterTALK, a phone-to-phone service that works even when there’s no internet signal.
NearZone utilizes the base transmitters and receivers in phones to ping messages across an anonymous and private network, connecting iPhone users through a fast and reliable service. Bluetooth technology allows for such contact even outside of a Wi-Fi network.
Apps like DisasterTALK have proven most useful for larger groups trying to coordinate several people across a crowded mass transit hub. Users can stay connected as they make their way through a busy station, onto the platform and even once inside the subway car. Meanwhile NearZone can be used for more private one to one chatting in the subway car with people around.
Last minute changes to the schedule can be quickly pinged across to all members of the group, along with directions and details. Teachers can coordinate with their chaperones during a field trip, for example, as could other large groups traveling together.
The DisasterTALK and NearZone apps can be adjusted to scan for other users in the near-to-immediate range, with users always able to control who they have contact with. Users can send their messages anonymously or openly, sharing only the details they wish. NearZone was specifically developed to expand the ways people can privately connect using their smartphones.
“People no longer have to make half a dozen phone calls to reach their whole group,” says DisasterTALK developer Myo S Nwe. “This is an almost instant way to communicate back and forth across different platforms, even when there’s no signal.”
Reliable WiFi service is uncertain in many mass transit locations around the world, even in larger cities. Commuters are usually quite familiar with their service dropping in and out during their travels, something NearZone and DisasterTALK app are not dependent on.
