After three years of selling Asian fit eyewear online in the US and internationally, Eyewear Envy Optometry has now opened an optometry practice in South San Francisco, California. Asian fit frames are defined as eyewear designed to fit Asian facial features and address the discomforts Asians commonly face with European and American-designed eyewear.

Eyewear Envy Optometry features Asian Fit eyewear brands such as TC Charton.

This unique fit also works for non-Asians who happen to have similar facial features such as a less prominent nose and high cheekbones.

Eyewear Envy Optometry has been selling Asian fit eyewear online for the past three years and demand for a practice location has been increasing. In addition to selling its eyewear online, Eyewear Envy Optometry will offer its unique frame collection and complete eye care services in its South San Francisco practice.

As an Asian-American and long-time eyeglasses wearer, Eyewear Envy Optometry founder Dr. Katherine Manalo, OD knew there was a need for better fitting frames for Asians in America. "Most frames sold in America are designed to fit a typical European/Caucasian facial profile. I knew I couldn't be the only one experiencing these problems, so I was motivated to find a solution to offer fellow Asians," she said.

With that concept in mind, she found several American and Asian manufacturers offering Asian fit eyewear, and in July 2011 EyewearEnvy.com went live. From the strong sales of EyewearEnvy.com, Dr. Manalo, OD realized that "the demand was encouraging, there really were people searching online for Asian fit glasses every single day." However, the customer base is not limited to Asians as Dr. Manalo, OD stated,“This unique fit also works for non-Asians who happen to have similar facial features such as a less prominent nose and high cheekbones.”

With the success of the online business, continuing customer demand naturally led to desire for a practice location. “This will give people an opportunity to try these unique frames in person and experience the difference,” she said. “Customers wearing these frames for the first time are pleased by how much better they fit.”

Eyewear Envy Optometry is now open at 951 El Camino Real, South San Francisco, California. A comprehensive frame collection and complete eye care services are offered.
