USA Celebrates the 20th Annual Crime Prevention Month
ATLANTA, Georgia (PRWEB) October 09, 2014 -- In recognition of Crime Prevention Month, U.S. Security Associates (USA) is joining the National Crime Prevention Council (NCPC) in promoting crime prevention and safety this October. In 1984, the NCPC designated October as Crime Prevention Month. Since then, October has been a time for spotlighting successful crime prevention practices and cultivating awareness of important issues. As a national security company protecting many of America’s schools, businesses, and public spaces, U.S. Security Associates shares NCPC’s commitment to developing safer, more resilient communities.
This year, the NCPC is focusing on combating investment fraud. Tens of billions of dollars are stolen every year in investment fraud schemes that often target retirees and senior citizens, robbing victims of their incomes, savings, and possessions. To help people avoid being preyed upon by identity thieves, scammers, and other criminals, the NCPC is partnering with the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) Education Foundation in an educational outreach initiative. “This partnership with the FINRA Foundation reflects our long-standing commitment to providing the leadership and education necessary to prevent all kinds of crime and builds upon our continuing campaigns against everything from cybercrime to fraud,” says NCPC president and CEO, Ann M. Harkins.
As one of America’s largest security services companies, U.S. Security Associates is in the crime prevention and deterrence business, with more than 46,000 security professionals protecting the interests of clients throughout the United States and abroad. During Crime Prevention Month, USA shares tips and practices its security personnel implement every day to stop crimes and save lives. The company is well-positioned to provide leadership and education on security and safety matters, with a globally recognized, award-winning security officer training program and subject matter experts on staff in virtually every security discipline. USA consultants are frequent speakers and guest lecturers at industry conferences and professional association meetings, and they are regularly engaged to provide specialized training for their clients’ employee populations on hot topics such as workplace violence prevention and active shooter response.
Throughout the month of October, USA is making free crime prevention and safety resources available via social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter and also through its website at http://www.ussecurityassociates.com. The website offers a wealth of useful links and guides, including archived articles from USA’s Securing Knowledge series that dovetail with this year’s NCPC fraud prevention focus.
“We are proud to support the National Crime Prevention Council during Crime Prevention Month and all year around,” says D.C. Page, senior vice president of USA’s Consulting and Investigations division. “American citizens, businesses, and communities benefit from everything NCPC does to ‘Take a Bite Out of Crime.’”
