Nascar Greats Join Fans In A Brand New Reality Fishing Series On World Fishing Network
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) October 13, 2014 -- NASCAR’s top racers turn to fishing for charity with some of their biggest fans in a brand new television series, Wheels & Reels, premiering Sunday, October 12 at 12 p.m. ET on World Fishing Network. Wheels & Reels is a half hour reality competition series that brings together all the excitement of NASCAR and all the togetherness of recreational and sport fishing to create a fun-filled event to benefit the Darrell Gwynn Foundation.
The Darrell Gwynn Foundation provides support for people with paralysis and seeks to prevent spinal cord injuries by educating young people about ways to prevent them.
“It’s awesome to watch these NASCAR greats take the time between races to fish with their fans and help raise awareness for a great charity,” said Russell Naftal, Executive Producer of Wheels & Reels. “This is a fantastic opportunity for NASCAR fans to see their favorite drivers participating in a fun competition off the track.”
Fishing is a popular pastime for many NASCAR drivers and gives them the opportunity to get on the water and take a break from their challenging race schedule. The first of this 10-episode series starts at The Daytona 500, where many top NASCAR drivers compete at the Darrell Gwynn Foundation Hot Rods and Reels fishing tournament, which pits teams comprised of a NASCAR driver and a fan against each other in a competition to catch as many fish as they can before the allotted time runs out. The team with the highest total weight in fish heads to the Winner’s Circle.
Popular drivers, including Ryan Newman, Kyle Larsen, Jamie McMurray and Brad Keselowski are on-hand, championing their cause to not only catch the most fish, but raise awareness for the Darrell Gwynn Foundation as well.
Wheels & Reels is produced by Texo Entertainment Inc. for World Fishing Network, the leading entertainment destination and digital resource for anglers throughout North America. World Fishing Network's programming lineup includes a selection of the best international series and the most diverse species coverage of any TV channel hosted by some of the top anglers from North America and across the globe. World Fishing Network and World Fishing Network HD are available to more than 63 million cable, satellite and telecommunications households throughout the United States, Canada and the Caribbean.
“Anglers have a special connection to NASCAR, especially in the Southeast where fishing and racing are two favorite sports,” said Ana Rodrigues, Director of Programming for World Fishing Network. “Wheels & Reels combines the best of both and anglers and racing fans alike are going to enjoy this program, which is supporting a great cause in the Darrell Gwynn Foundation.”
