The victory of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), with the new Prime Minister, Narendra Modi at the helm, is being hailed by many as a new era for business in India. The government has promised to implement policies to improve infrastructure, including futuristic investments in "smart cities," meaning that the future looks bright for telematics. The trail-blazers in the connected car sphere, Mahindra & Mahindra, have other automakers such as Tata Motors hot on their heels; it is speculated that the Indian automotive heavyweight will launch their "Drive Link Application," in collaboration with Samsung, in their passenger vehicles by 2015. The rise of the connected vehicle brings with it a plethora of valued-added services, including remote vehicle diagnostics, onsite support and usage-based insurance.

Telematics Update is to host a live discussion at 3.30pm IST on October 15th, with expert speakers Sirish Batch, Head - Infotronics Technology & Advance Electronics, Mahindra & Mahindra and Vishnu Sundaram, Director of Telematics, Harman International (India). The webinar will be titled "Expand Your Business: Add Value for Connected Indian Consumer". The discussion will analyse which value-added services are increasingly demanded by the India customer and the profitable business models for value-adds in the Indian market.

Telematics Update project Director, Jack Palmer, stated that "Following a tough year for the Indian automotive industry, the new government policies, the uptake of the connected car and the demands of the connected Indian consumer are driving growth for telematics within the industry. It’s an exciting time for all involved."

To discuss this hot topic Telematics Update is delighted that Mahindra & Mahindra and Harman will be sharing their insight as these two companies are instrumental in the escalation of valued-added services in the Indian passenger vehicle.
