FAIRFAX, VA (PRWEB) October 10, 2014 -- LastPass, the leading password management service, now supports RSA SecurID as a second factor of authentication for access to LastPass Enterprise accounts. Until now, RSA SecureID has been focused on internal system access. This integration expands the benefits of RSA SecureID across all platforms on the Internet. RSA customers can leverage the value of existing investments by pairing SecurID with LastPass’ password management system, with benefits including lowered threat of password misuse, breach risk mitigation, and improved compliance.
“Companies are recognizing the potential vulnerability of a system without a second layer of authentication,” said Joe Siegrist, CEO and Co-Founder of LastPass. “By implementing RSA SecurID as a second form of authentication, LastPass Enterprise users have a highly sophisticated set of protocols so that sensitive information is protected by two different powerful cyber security technologies.”
Once RSA SecurID is enabled on a LastPass Enterprise account, the user will first be prompted for the LastPass Master Password, and then asked for the RSA token. Each RSA SecurID authenticator has a unique system, which generates a new code, or token, at fixed intervals of time. Because new tokens are constantly being generated – typically every 60 seconds – it would prove extremely difficult for a hacker to obtain the number at any given time.
For the over 40 million people and 30,000 companies already using RSA SecurID, including small dental offices and Fortune 100 companies, the integration with LastPass Enterprise provides added benefits in mitigating the risk for breaches, as well as enhanced password hygiene and compliance and reporting insights for passwords.
