Jiffy Lube Co-founder Stephen Spinelli Kicks off University City Science Center’s Fall Smart Talk Series

Stephen Spinelli Jr., Ph.D., co-founder of Jiffy Lube International and president of Philadelphia University, will kick off the Science Center’s fall Smart Talk series.

Just out of college, Stephen Spinelli Jr., Ph.D., co-founded Jiffy Lube International, forever changing the quick lube industry. Now president of Philadelphia University and a widely respected thought-leader on entrepreneurship, Spinelli will kick off the Science Center’s fall Smart Talk series on October 17, 2014. The Smart Talk program will run from 8:30 – 10:00 a.m. at Quorum at the University City Science Center, 3711 Market Street, Suite 800, Philadelphia.

Stephen Spinelli, a leader in academia and business and renowned expert in entrepreneurship, became president of Philadelphia University in September 2007. Under his leadership, the University implemented a bold strategic plan that formalized its educational approach and reinforced its position as the model for professional university education. In 2013, Dr. Spinelli co-authored the book, “Disrupt Together: How Teams Consistently Innovate,” which details effective team-based approaches to achieving innovation in business, education and other industries in disruption. Previously, Dr. Spinelli held leadership positions at Babson College, including vice provost, chair of the entrepreneurship division and director of the Arthur M. Blank Center for Entrepreneurship. He previously served as chairman and CEO of the American Oil Change Corporation, has consulted for major corporations and has been published widely in both professional and academic journals on entrepreneurship and education.

Smart Talk is a quarterly Science Center program that gives startup and growing companies a look at best practices and business strategies from industry leaders in the region. Smart Talk is co-sponsored by TriNet and the University City Keystone Innovation Zone.
