Actor/Director, Perry King Launches Kickstarter Campaign To Fund The Divide, A New Independent Film From Left For Dead Productons
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) October 14, 2014 -- Veteran actor/director Perry King (Riptide, The Day After Tomorrow) is pleased to announce the launch of a campaign on Kickstarter.com to help source crowd funding for his new independent Western, The Divide, from Left For Dead Productions.
King has been dreaming for years of filming a movie on his cattle ranch in Northern California. He now has the script to do it. Though the Hollywood veteran has countless contacts in the industry and could look for financing within the system, he has elected to take a non-traditional route by going through Kickstarter to make his project come to life.
“I know Hollywood,” says the 45-year industry veteran. “I know what it takes to get a movie produced in Hollywood; I know what they want. I don’t want to make a Hollywood movie. I want to make my own movie, my way. I want to make a movie about the drama of ordinary life, people I know. But I can’t do it alone. I need your help.”
King has been working for nearly four years with New Hampshire-based screenwriter Jana Brown to craft the script for The Divide. The collaboration has been enhanced by the addition of veteran Chicago-based filmmaker Russ Rayburn. The trio will use its collective experience to produce a movie they all believe in deeply.
The Divide will be filmed on the authentic setting of a 500-acre cattle ranch in the Gold Rush country of El Dorado County, Calif. King is seeking $30,000, which will support pre-production for the film. Filming is scheduled to begin in the summer of 2015.
“I’m asking for you to help me make this film,” says King. “I know it is going to be something I can be proud of. Join me in this project and I know you will feel proud of it too.”
Supporters of the Kickstarter campaign will be eligible for special rewards, including film logo merchandise, items autographed by Perry King, and, at certain giving levels, exclusive access to the making of The Divide and an invitation to join King and the cast and crew at the movie’s premiere.
