Jenise Brown, author of DownLow Sister OnTop: Celebrating the African American Bisexual Woman, presents the “Bi OUT the Box Tour” It promises to be the most amazing bisexual book tour launch party in the history of the city. While hundreds of book tour parties are launched daily, this event will be one of the most memorable and exciting book events the literati of Richmond, Va. have ever experienced.
"I've never said this in my entire career,” says Brown. “I’m a proud bisexual woman and the 'Bi OUT the Box Tour’ is the most profound allowance of authentic expression I have ever experienced. The book tour probes bisexuality and serves as a catalyst for individual sexual exploration that takes sexual orientation to an entirely new level. ”
With the Supreme Court knocking down the efforts of states to barricade the proverbial closet door on the marital rights of LGBTQ community, the world is celebrating an awakening to the diverse nature of all humanity. “Marriage Equality is an oxymoron. What people are really asking for is freedom,” says Brown. “Freedom comes through diversity and diversity is the direction in which we are all headed.”
The “Bi OUT the Box Tour” shakes up everything people thought they knew about the “B” of LGBT and its relevance to the awakening of acceptance for every orientation known and unknown. It takes a light-hearted approach to the seriousness of taking off the mask of self-bondage. Appropriately, the event takes the form of a masquerade party á La “Eyes Wide Shut”. Guest will enjoy a staged reading from the book, DownLow Sister OnTop, live burlesque, wine and hors d'oeuvres, a dance party and a raffle with proceeds benefiting Mothers of Incarcerated Sons Society, Inc. and AHEAD Inc., improving the quality of life for those who are physically and economically behind bars.
The “Bi OUT the Box Tour” kickoff party takes place on November 8, 6:30pm at Dogtown Dance Theatre, 109 W 15th Street, Richmond, Virginia. Tickets may be purchased in advance @ http://www.jenisebrown.com. This phenomenal tour will cross the many barriers dictated by societal status quo.
