RMJ Tactical Collaborates with Hamilton County SWAT Team to Improve Tomahawks
Chattanooga, TN (PRWEB) October 13, 2014 -- RMJ Tactical, the company that has been making tomahawks for U.S. Special Forces use since 2001, is collaborating with the Hamilton County Sheriff's Department to create better tools for SWAT teams and other law enforcement officials.
"This opportunity came through some people who worked closely with us and are great friends with the Hamilton County sheriff," said Richard Carmack, COO of RMJ Tactical. "We expressed interest in working with the local SWAT team and departments and we got the opportunity to do so."
The company will provide SWAT team officers with a number of tomahawks to test in the field. In return, officers will provide the company with feedback on where the tomahawks worked best, where they fell short, and what changes can be made to improve them.
"We are going to develop strategies with the SWAT team that we will eventually be able to share with other law enforcement agencies," said Carmack. "We want to show that tomahawks are lightweight and are great for breach and rescue for SWAT and other law enforcement teams."
RMJ Tactical will use feedback from the officers to adjust their tomahawk designs and create a series of new tools, like tactical knives, to accomplish tasks to which the tomahawks were not suited.
"One thing that we're all about is making tools for the guys on the front line that will help them do their job better," said Carmack. "It's awesome being able to work with our local elite law enforcement and being able to make a difference."
Carmack also hopes the collaboration will raise awareness for the value of tomahawks as tactical tools. "This is going to give validation that the tomahawk is not just a fad. They have been used for years by military personnel, and there have great civilian and law enforcement uses as well."
