Career Partners International Cohosts the 1st International Barcelona HR Conference
Chapel Hill, North Carolina (PRWEB) October 15, 2014 -- Career Partners International, a leading global provider of outplacement, career transition, executive coaching and other talent management services, assisted in the organization of the 1st International Barcelona HR Conference, held on October 3, 2014. Advantage Consultores, the Spain and Portugal offices of Career Partners International, led the initiative and other sponsors included AEDIPE, the Catalan Association of HR Directors.
The conference was attended by over 250 managing and executive directors from 16 countries to discuss this year’s theme, “Global Trends in HR.” Topics included the challenge of youth unemployment in European countries, what companies can do to maintain employee engagement and development, the necessity for workforce flexibility and autonomy, as well as skill sets and proficiencies that make individuals more employable.
“We are extremely proud to have been involved in the organization of such an innovative and important event,” commented David P. Hemmer, President and CEO of Career Partners International. “An international exchange of ideas spurs innovation and helps HR leaders meet the needs of their organizations across the globe.”
Ricardo Alfaro, President of the Catalan Association of HR Directors, emphasized the relevance and importance of the conference stating, “It is important in order to create a public forum for organizations for networking and sharing experiences in an international environment.”
Speakers included leaders who shared insights from global organizations including Google, Microsoft, Deutsche Telekom, Keysight Technologies, Holcim, Unilever, Desigual, Kienbaum Executive Consultants, Career Partners International, Codorniu, the University of Amsterdam, Cuatrecasas International Institute, and Carglass and Vlerick Business School.
“At Unilever we are building programs like the Agile Working Program, which allows flexibility of schedules, time, and work spaces,” shared Carlos Sarda, European Talent and Leadership Manager at Unilever. “This coincides with the idea of giving more autonomy to employees, who are now the ones to manage their own careers and work schedules.”
Sylvia Taudien, Managing Director of Career Partners International – Spain & Portugal and primary organizer of the conference, added: “Speaking both English and other languages fluently, being able to work well in teams within other cultures and countries, and being open to geographic mobility are the main skills and requirements that companies are searching for in an international environment.”
Dialogue on youth unemployment, an especially pertinent issue in Spain where the conference was held, addressed the need for companies to engage the problem head-on. Taudien appealed to attending companies to be leaders in the fight against youth unemployment by committing to take initiative to address the issue.
The success of this year’s flagship conference has led to confirmation of the 2nd International HR Conference to be held on October 9, 2015. Pre-registration has already begun for the conference, with more information available at hrconference.advantageconsultores.com.
