Clearwater Law Firm of Carlson, Meissner, Hart & Hayslett Recognizes Ten-Year Anniversary of Tanzania’s Tumaini Junior School in Karatu, Tanzania
Clearwater, FL (PRWEB) October 24, 2014 -- The law firm of Carlson, Meissner, Hart & Hayslett congratulates Tumaini Junior School and the Tanzania Education Corporation on the occasion of the school’s ten-year anniversary. The firm is a proud supporter of Tumaini’s scholarship program.
Tumaini (Swahili for “hope”) is a private, non-profit school serving more than 700 students in Tanzania. The curriculum is taught entirely in English. Tanzania Education Corporation provides financial support for Tumaini.
Tumaini serves as a model for elementary education in Tanzania. In ten short years, Tumaini has demonstrated significant success. In 2013, Tumaini placed first out of 90 schools in the Karatu District and 40th out of 15,650 schools in the entire nation based on the national exam taken by all primary standard 7 students. In addition, 100% of Tumaini’s graduates have placed in the top 10% of all graduating students nationwide based on the national exam. Over 90% of Tumaini’s graduates are enrolled in secondary schools where they continue to perform at a high level.
During Tumaini’s recent ten-year anniversary celebration and class reunion, school founder Modest Bayo and the Tanzania Education Corporation announced their commitment to ensuring that every graduate of Tumaini School with a demonstrated financial need is provided financial aid to attend a government secondary school. More than 80 of the school’s graduates were in attendance to hear the momentous announcement, along with parents, local officials, and Tumaini's current students. The support of Carlson, Meissner, Hart & Hayslett and other contributors makes these enhanced opportunities possible.
“Community commitment has been key to our firm’s success for the past 40 years,” said firm co-founder Ed Carlson. “By helping to educate the students at Tumaini, we are providing hope for a brighter future and creating a new generation of leaders who will hopefully understand the importance of giving back.”
