Irish American Heritage Center Person of the Year 2014: Martin Healy Jr.
Chicago, IL (PRWEB) October 31, 2014 -- The Irish American Heritage Center, located at 4625 N. Knox Avenue in Chicago, is dedicated to nurturing and strengthening Irish culture. Part of this mission is fulfilled by celebrating constructive contributions to the United States of America made by Irish and Irish-Americans.
Each year, a committee of the Irish American Heritage Center chooses an individual to be recognized as “Person of the Year.” The 2014 Person of the Year is Martin Healy, Jr.
After a distinguished academic career, Martin Healy, Jr. began his time in the legal profession by serving as a Law Clerk with the Supreme Court of Illinois. He went on to serve in legal positions with the Illinois House of Representatives and with the City of Chicago, and spent time as an associate with a private firm before forming the Healy Scanlon Law Firm and practicing exclusively in the area of personal injury law. Now Martin Healy, Jr. is a dedicated advocate for injured clients, having obtained numerous multimillion dollar and record-setting verdicts and settlements.
In addition to his accomplishments representing injured clients, Martin Healy, Jr. is an active participant in the community, including current service on the Board of Governors of the American Association for Justice, former service as President of the Board of Governors at Loyola University School of Law and a stint as Director of the Sauganash Community Association.
The son of Irish immigrant parents, Martin Healy, Jr. has also been an active participant in a number of organizations with a mission of promoting Irish and Irish-American heritage. Examples include service on the Board of Directors and as Annual Dinner Chair for the St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee, as President of the Celtic Legal Society, and as President of the Irish Fellowship Club of Chicago.
