2014 Mega Event: Reinventing Travel for a Sustainably Profitable Future
New Orleans, LA (PRWEB) October 15, 2014 -- Airline Information, a globally recognized leader in commercial aviation conferences, will host its 5th annual Mega Event in New Orleans, USA, from November 18th through 19th, 2014. The conference will bring together over 450 leading executives from the airline, travel, loyalty and co-brand card sectors to discuss best practices for reinventing the business model of travel: driving sustainable revenues while improving their customers’ experience.
With the airline and greater travel industry starting to generate profits at pre-recession levels, the challenge now lies in how to invest wisely to ensure a sustainably profitable future. Sponsored by ICLP and Collinson Latitude as Lead Sponsors, the 2014 Mega Event is dedicated to helping global airlines, loyalty programs and travel brands learn how they can best leverage emerging opportunities – with three tracks housed in a single venue covering FFP & Frequent Guest Loyalty, Ancillary Revenue & Merchandising, and Travel Co-branded Cards.
Industry experts will meet to find and discuss solutions to burgeoning challenges, including: whether to invest more in customer service or focus solely on the most loyal and profitable customers; whether ancillary revenues will continue to fuel the bottom-line or not; or how travel co-brand cards will survive and thrive with regulators continuing to cap the interchange fees that pay for points and miles.
“With travel industry profits flying higher than in recent years, airlines and travel companies across the globe are on track to grow profits even more,” said Christopher Staab, Managing Partner for Airline Information. “However, this is in sharp contrast to the previous decade, when many businesses were posting large loses. We think it’s incredibly important to learn from this experience; so this year’s event will focus on reinvention and exploring the essentials the airline industry needs in order to maintain financial health, grow revenues and satisfy customers.”
Each year, Mega Event plays host to The Mega Awards, an annual ceremony, sponsored by American Express this year and taking place on November 18, 2014. A Mega Award is the highest accolade in the industry, conferred each year on the best Loyalty, Ancillary Revenue and Travel Co-Brand Card efforts and the campaigns they produce.
There are only 6 trophies are awarded every year, which include the following categories:
- Loyalty Campaign of the Year
- Loyalty Innovation of the Year
- Ancillary Revenue & Merchandising Campaign of the Year
- Ancillary Revenue & Merchandising Innovation of the Year
- Co-brand Campaign of the Year
- Co-brand Innovation of the Year
The creation of the Mega Awards honors genuine innovation in the airline and travel industries. The 2014 judging academy is presided over by Chief Judge, Earl Quenzel, former Head of Continental OnePass.
