Journeys International (Journeys) has installed SugarCRM to represent the interests of their customers. As a full-service tour operator, Journeys needed a CRM system that could scale without losing the personal touch of their customized travel arrangements. Journeys used Technology Advisors (TAI), a Three-Star Platinum partner of SugarCRM, for consulting and implementation.

The Journeys team quickly realized that their business didn’t fit the mold for traditional CRMs, since they don’t have the standard types of contacts, cases, or accounts. An initial attempt at deploying CRM failed until they were introduced to TAI through Sugar’s partner network. A full business analysis of Journeys led to TAI building a unique CRM system from scratch – an “XRM” system. “Journeys International was the first customer of mine who didn’t use a single core CRM module,” said TAI consultant Lan Luo. “A true XRM case.”

As tour operators, Journeys tracks their clients’ travel reservations for specific destinations and excursions. “Primarily we track the relationship with the travelers,” explained Journeys President Robin Weber Pollak, “and now we can use CRM to improve communication with our partners on the ground too.” Other noticeable changes for Journeys since using their customized instance of Sugar have been frequent reporting, identification of client trends, and improved financial management.
