Goldman Sachs Honors Year Up Founder and CEO for Entrepreneurship
Boston, MA (PRWEB) October 15, 2014 -- Goldman Sachs (NYSE:GS) recognized Year Up Founder and CEO Gerald Chertavian as one of the 100 Most Intriguing Entrepreneurs of 2014 at its Builders + Innovators Summit in Santa Barbara, California.
Goldman Sachs selected Chertavian as one of 100 entrepreneurs from multiple industries to be honored at the two-day event. In 2000, Chertavian launched the innovative job-training and placement program Year Up in Boston to help bridge the Opportunity Divide for urban young adults. One of the fastest growing and most effective programs in the country, Year Up now has sites in 11 cities and serves more than 2,100 students each year. Eighty-five percent of Year Up graduates are employed or attending college fulltime within four months of completing the intensive one-year program, earning an average of $30,000/year.
