iMedicware, a leading provider of EHR and EPM software for the ophthalmic community, today announced that it has successfully tested its HL7 HIE interface connecting the Mackool Institute with New York University Langone HIE Network. This will allow health information to be seamlessly and securely passed between the two.
Jeanne Mackool, Practice Administrator from the prestigious Mackool Eye Institute stated, "The integration with the HIE has been effortless on our part because of the help, advice and technical assistance received from iMedicWare. They are the only company that could have performed this for us. I know because I previously evaluated more than twelve other EHRs.”
Transferring patients between providers of care can adversely affect the quality, speed and safety of their care. Connecting the Mackool Eye Institute to NYULMC health information exchange, will speed the transfer of information between the two facilities, improve coordination of care, reduce redundancy of orders and thus help to optimize both the clinical decision making process and the quality of care patients will receive.
In addition, by connecting the iMedicWare EHR to the NYULMC HIE network, the Mackool Eye Institute will now be able to access HEALTHIX, a Regional Health Information Organization in the New York metropolitan area. HEALTHIX, which connects thirteen provider organizations in the New York area significantly expands the Mackool Eye Institute’s ability to share clinical information with many other providers in the New York metropolitan area.
