CallFire partners with Flywheel to celebrate milestone with charitable donation

CallFire, Inc., the cloud-based text and voice platform that helps organizations communicate with their target audiences, today announced that its two billionth message has been sent by Flywheel, the on-demand taxi access app and CallFire customer. To commemorate the milestone, CallFire has made a donation in Flywheel’s honor to fitkidsAmerica, a non-profit that strives to fight childhood obesity through after-school programs and camps.

An existing CallFire customer, fitkidsAmerica uses the system to send updates and advisories to parents (such as the heat advisories sent during the recent extreme California heat wave), information to coaches, and marketing information to parents via text and voice messages. The donation will be in the form of 200,000 CallFire credits -- the equivalent of a $10,000 in-kind donation – to enable fitkidsAmerica to further leverage the CallFire platform to increase awareness and raise funds to support the organization and its mission, free of charge.

“We are honored to be able to help direct these credits to fitkidsAmerica, a fellow California organization that is fighting for a cause we believe in,” said Ryan Nobrega, head of operations, Flywheel. “While we have always appreciated the CallFire service for how it enabled us to cost-effectively correspond with thousands of customers across multiple locations in real time, we now have an even greater appreciation for the larger CallFire organization and its commitment to service for underserved communities.”

Flywheel, one of the leading providers of on-demand taxi services across the country, enables customers to request a taxi from their smartphone, track its location in real time, and pay automatically via phone. Because Flywheel works directly with established and accredited taxi drivers, it offers a safer, more reliable alternative to other transportation services. Flywheel leverages CallFire’s software to communicate with customers.

“As a Flywheel customer, I have admired the service’s innovative approach and the ease it offers users,” said Barbara Palmer, chief revenue officer, CallFire. “Two billion messages delivered is a huge milestone for our company, and we are delighted that Flywheel sent the momentous text. Being able to honor Flywheel with a donation to fitkidsAmerica allows us to contribute to our community, and we hope other companies will do the same. Just think, by distributing one simple text, Flywheel was able to trigger an effort that will greatly benefit many kids in need.”

“Given the frequency of our use of the CallFire platform, we were immensely grateful that Flywheel chose fitkidsAmerica for this donation,” said Joan Missett-Gambill, president and founder, fitkidsAmerica. “Now we are able to redirect those earmarked funds toward new programs and staffing to help even more children and families.”

As part of this effort, CallFire is challenging other companies to recognize major milestones by paying it forward to people and organizations in need. Organizations or individuals that are interested in joining the movement should use the hashtag #payitforwardchallenge.
