Step-by-step cooking app, SideChef is making it even easier for cooks in the kitchen with a new 1.3 version featuring 33 “how-to” videos along with user interface advancements and improved search function for easier navigation and discovery.

“It isn’t easy having to jump between cooking videos and blogs while trying to cook in the kitchen, so we’ve reinvented the SideChef experience to have on-demand videos play in the app while the user cooks, making the process the most seamless in any cooking app out there,” says SideChef CEO and founder Kevin Yu. “Cooks can choose any of SideChef’s recipes utilizing the new recipe tags and produce quality dishes from the nation’s top chefs, bloggers and foodies alike.”

SideChef’s “how-to” videos will be incorporated into the recipes to demonstrate common kitchen actions. Users can now learn how to mince, dice, chop and massage – all without leaving the app. The video icons appear automatically in any step containing that action word, so users can simply press play and a 10- to15-second video will play in the step itself. Videos can be replayed or completely skipped.

The recipe search function will enable users to search by specific users’ names whether it one of SideChef’s top chefs, cooks, bloggers or foodies. Additional recipe tags have also been incorporated into the app, so users can search by food or beverage brand and even for raw foods, snacks, or lunches. In addition, recipes can be found through the new multiword search query.

A more personalized overview page will now greet each cook with descriptions and profile pictures to best discover a new recipe at first glance. Once cooks navigate away from the app, automatic timers will still sound to ensure no food is overcooked. This feature is perfect for those cooks who multitask and use their phone for its normal call, text and other app functions while they cook.

Uploading recipes, as well as this latest version of SideChef, is optimized for iOS 8 and the iPhone 6.
